Life Is Like A Play On The Stage
From our birth till the moment we breath our last, there would be countless encounters, happiness and sorrows, all of which intertwined into a script. As you take your last steps towards the end, have a look at this script of your life. It may bring a spontaneous grin to your face, or leave you with a forced smile. Why is this so? Because each and every one of us has different acting skills. Everyone of us takes on a different role in this play of life. If you can at least force a smile, that is great for there are many others who cannot even do that!
What role are you choosing for your public premiere?
Life is like a play on the stage, just like a play on the stage resembles life. Is that so? During your academic years, when you have not formally entered the “theatrical troupe”, it is out of the question to discuss your “acting skills”. As you bid farewell to your schooling years and take your first step into the real world, and get a job in the corporate world, this marks your official entry to “playing” your role on the stage of life. The timid ones, or to put it nicely, the wise ones who look after their own hide, will find it hard to resist the waves of temptation from the slick and smooth society. Very soon, they involuntarily get into the thick of the action drama and unwittingly take on the roles of either the good man or the villain. But from what my eye of wisdom can see, there seems to be more villains than the good men. And it is because of this, there are always recruitment ads in the classified section of the newspapers.
Life is truly akin to a play on the stage, and the stage resembles life, is it not? When you are out there, you are working hard for your sustenance, and often had to put on a mask, very much like the famous Si Chuan Chinese Art of Face Changing, to survive the 8 hours in the corporate jungle. When you finally get home, thinking that your face-changing act is over, there is another set of challenges waiting for you. Every family has their own problems, and it is all written in the script. If you truly understand that this world is like a big stage, a film studio, you should fully prepare for your assigned roles, do your research and rehearsal well, before stepping into the spotlight. Let the “Director” know that you have worked hard for your roles, to ensure that your future roles and “airtime” on this stage would be much better than now, and be so good at it that one day, you can become your own “Director”.
To have true freedom, quit being an actor!
Even though you might be befitting of the title – the “God” of acting, with your brilliant and precise acting skills, there is still no route for you to leave the stage and your role as an “actor”. You have no choice but to accommodate to the demands of the audience. You will never be able to go freely, where the wind gently blows. Furthermore, if you become too absorbed and focused in your role, and are unable to withdraw from it, you will be in grave danger! Acting on this stage of life is to be bound to this human realm with no exit door in sight. The human realm is a place of multitude sufferings, a place of karmic sorrow where joy is often short-lived. Only when you shed the stage costumes and theatrical make-up, can your heart be filled with bliss and joy.
